It is absolutely amazing the stories and headlines that have been in the press lately. They are screaming about the economy heading into a recession and are finding new and innovative ways to help out ‘the common man’. Granted, the Columbia, South Carolina economy is doing very well, thank you…but who am I to turn down free money like this?
Today, Congressional leaders along with President Bush have announced that they have reached a bi-partisan deal which would introduce an economic stimulus package that would pay taxpayers up to $1,200. Estimates are that 116 Million taxpayers would be eligible to receive a check.
Officials statethat these checks would be issued quickly as 60 DAYS after the legislation is enacted. ”I know Americans are concerned about our economic future,” said President Bush. “Our economy is structurally sound, but it is dealing with short-term disruptions in the housing market and the impact of higher energy prices. These challenges are slowing growth.”
Sure, I’ll take my check! This is absolutely amazing. With the recent announcement of historically low interest rates on mortgages and a protected economy that Columbia, South Carolina is known for, it appears that we “can have our cake and eat it too”. Since the rest of the country is struggling, these stimulus programs are rolled out on a national level and we get to enjoy the benefits of it as a result. Here is yet one more reason life in South Carolina is so good!
