An annual fundraiser for the fireworks spectacular that takes place on the shores of the lake to commemorate Independence Day on July 4th, the Taste of Lake Murray kickstarts the fundraising season.

Yes, it’s true. Columbia’s ECHL Ice Hockey team, the Columbia Inferno have totally gone to the dogs. Literally.
On Saturday, December 8th, the Inferno will be hosting the Florida Everblades at the Carolina Coliseum. Blaze the mascot won’t be the only dog in the house, however.

What a great program - many groups are getting together to sponsor a “Smoke Out” supporting the decision to make Columbia’s nightlife locales a smoke-free environment,
with a concert under the Vista’s Lights on November 15th.

I know, I know…it’s not the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of South Carolina, but in Columbia, we do have a professional ice hockey team. They are called the Columbia Inferno and have a Dalmatian as a mascot. He’s been known to go skating from time to time. How do I know? I donned the Blaze costume a few years back and actually attempted to skate with it on. I think the most unnerving part was looking into a mirror and not seeing my own face looking back at me, but instead an oversized dog head.
